news archiving for the web

The first thing the browser should do is save everything viewed on a hard drive. This is accomplished by saving the html plus all linked content. The next thing it should do is create a notes file for each saved page. Now, a page of news on the web is a collection of links. Each link is a news item. What we want to do is index our collection of news items. A sample process has been presented, consisting of the extraction of all the headlines in one edition of one newspaper, into a compact body of text. This could be expedited by, for example, providing extra link functions. For this purpose, the extra link function adds the ... well, you could highlight text and copy it into the index text, and then use a very quick and easy tool to add a link.

If we think in terms of monetization, I think an even more powerful idea is an on line news platform, with lots of blog in it, that integrates the kind of archiving described into itself. Readers can build lists from their reading, and publish them, complete with quick-read popups and other features, and advertising would be linked to all the content, with bloggers receiving a percent.
